Are you looking for valuable insights, case studies, and the latest updates from the industry? You’re in the right place.

UpCRM is kicking off the new #UpExperts series — a weekly spotlight where our talented team shares hands-on knowledge, pro tips, and deep dives into the ever-evolving world of CRM, data, and digital transformation.

For this first edition, our Senior Data Consultant Cédric Mathis brings you a sharp overview of Talend’s most impactful 2025 updates. From core infrastructure changes and enhanced AI capabilities to newly deprecated features, we break it down so you can stay ahead in under 5 minutes.

  1. Java 17 & Camel 4

This marks a major evolution in Talend’s infrastructure: support for Java 8 has officially ended.

Since the February release, all artifacts must now be built and executed using Java 17, both in Talend Studio and Talend Runtime.

If you’re working with Data Services and Routes built as OSGI, these will also need to be rebuilt on a Talend Runtime that supports Camel 4.

💡 Why it matters: This isn’t just a feature—it’s a fundamental shift. The new Java 17 foundation impacts all jobs, artifacts, data services, and routes. Ensuring compatibility requires rebuilding existing developments on this updated infrastructure.

2. Search engine for repository items

Released in R2025-03, this new search engine in Talend Studio allows you to quickly locate items within your repository.

💡 Why it matters: When your repository is full of jobs and components, an efficient search engine saves valuable time. It’s a simple but powerful improvement in day-to-day navigation.

3. Optimization of Java coding

Since R2025-04, Talend has enhanced the Java coding experience by fully integrating Eclipse IDE capabilities into components like tJava, tJavaRow, and tJavaFlex. For example:

💡 Why it matters: Clean code is key to clean maintenance. With features like auto-completion, syntax highlighting, formatting, and library fetching now supported in full, developers can work smarter and faster directly within Talend Studio.

4. New QVD Components

Introduced in R2025-05, this new component allows you to generate QVD files (QlikView Data) directly within Talend. For instance:

💡 Why it matters: This feature streamlines the integration between Talend Studio and Qlik platforms (QlikView, Qlik Sense), making your workflows faster and more efficient.

5. API Designer – Contracts Folders

A new Organizer tool was released in R2025-04 for API Designer. You can now create folder hierarchies to store and logically organize your API contracts. Take a look at the snapshot:

💡 Why it matters: When working with numerous APIs, structured organization is essential. This feature helps maintain order and simplifies access to contract documents.

 6. Talend Remote Engine v2.13.11

The latest version of the Remote Engine introduces support for data lineage collection and brings a host of security enhancements.

💡 Why it matters:

  • Data lineage allows you to trace data from source to destination, including all applied transformations.
  • Security updates ensure the platform remains resilient by addressing vulnerabilities through continuous library updates.

7. Embedded AI Components

You can now integrate your preferred AI models (OpenAI, Claude, Ollama, etc.) directly into Talend jobs through newly added components. Check the example:

💡 Why it matters: AI is becoming a core element in IT workflows. Talend lets you embed LLMs to enhance your integration logic and automate more processes with intelligence.

8. Deprecated features to note

With innovation comes change, so in any release, there are a few items that need to be left aside because they no longer fit with the editor’s strategy.

In 2025, the following items have been deprecated or removed:

  • Talend MDM has reached end of life and is no longer available in Talend Studio.
  • tREST, tHTTPRequest and tFileFetch have been replaced by tHttpClient.
  • Camel Saxon in cMessagingEndpoint has been replaced by Camel Xquery.

💡 Keep an eye on deprecation notes and make sure your systems are up-to-date.

In summary:
The first half of 2025 has brought a wave of powerful updates to the Talend ecosystem: enhanced integration tools, stronger external connectivity, improved security, and now embedded AI-ready models.

These continuous improvements help both developers and admins unlock Talend’s full potential — and the second half of the year promises even more exciting innovations. We will keep you posted!
